MEN'S SEMI-FINAL: #2 VIU vs #3 UFV
Cascades send Mariners sailing
It was a combat hard fought on both sides today as the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades defeated the Vancouver Island University Mariners in three straight sets in Match #6 of the BCCAA Provincial Volleyball Championships hosted by Camosun College.
The two teams played a see saw battle in every match with the first ending 25-22, the second 26-24 and the barn-burning third 28-26.
Players of the Match were first-year left side/libero, Alec Dumerton from UFV and fourth-year right side, Rafal Korkowski from VIU.
The Cascades advance to the gold medal match (Match #12) tomorrow at 8pm, where they will face the winner of Match #8 (to be determined later this evening between UBCO vs. Winner Match #4) for the Men’s 2010 BCCAA Volleyball Championship title!
With hopes of gold gone, the Mariners will regroup to take on the loser of Match #8 for the bronze medal.
